Bismarck 4th of July Celebration Moves to New Home for 2025
Bismarck’s 4th of July Celebration will have a new home in 2025: the MDU Resources Community Bowl on the Bismarck State College campus.
Bringing fresh energy, expanded space for community gathering, and a reimagined experience, the event, now officially named Bismarck’s Red White and Boom!, remains one of the city’s most anticipated annual traditions. The celebration will take place on Friday, July 4, from 4 PM to 11 PM CT.
Due to construction at the State Capitol Grounds, the traditional event site is no longer feasible. In response, City Administrator Jason Tomanek assembled a committee of civic and community leaders to ensure the celebration not only continues but endures.
“The MDU Resources Community Bowl offers the ideal space to elevate this experience for families, music lovers, and fireworks fans alike,” said Tomanek. “We’re thrilled to welcome the community to a new setting that preserves the heart of this tradition while creating exciting new opportunities.”
What to Expect: A Celebration for All Ages
The event is free and open to the public. This year’s event promises a vibrant, family-friendly experience filled with patriotic spirit and summertime fun. Highlights include:
- Interactive Games & Inflatables. From sack race competitions and inflatables to oversized classics like Giant Jenga and cornhole, there’s something for every age group to enjoy.
- Creative Zones. Families can explore hands-on activities like the Bubble Zone, and the Message to America Wall, where guests can reflect on what freedom and America mean to them.
- Culinary Favorites. Attendees can purchase savory classic American eats at the main concession stand operated by Norm’s Catering, along with sweet treats from local favorites FOMO 10-40 Creamery and Olive’s Ice Cream Truck. Alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase (21+).
- Live Music & Entertainment. Enjoy exciting exhibitions from local pole vaulters, live music from the dynamic Savanah Benz, and the much-anticipated return of the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra for their 31st annual Independence Day concert.
- Fireworks Extravaganza. The evening concludes with a breathtaking fireworks show, launched from the southwest corner of the venue and set against the scenic backdrop of the Missouri River, lighting up the sky in red, white, and blue.
